James Gang's Annual Polka Bash at Du Bois

Dale and Jean Blecha James were married on September 5, 1948. After their 25th anniversary, their kids started celebrating with a free polka dance on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.At first, it was every 5 years, then every 2 years, and then they couldn’t stand it!
Jeanette Beethe Heins made and presented quilts of valor to four of her cousins at the Beethe family reunion this summer. Pictured are Marvin Luedders of Burchard, Donald Luedders of Pawnee City, Jeanette Heins of David City, Mark Beethe of Exeter, and Howard Beethe of Tecumseh. Marvin, Howard, and Donald all served in the Army Reserves in the 60’s and 70’s, and Mark served in the National Guard in the 80’s

Opal Rule has dedicated a large part of her life to sharing her love for horses and equine shows. Her passion began at a very young age when she was growing up on a farm in Saline County. Rule said her father had bought a mare the year before she was born.
