Volunteers again answered the call and set up the Avenue of Flags on Veterans Day. Because of the pandemic, local programs were canceled but at least we had the flags to look and reflect on the service of our veterans, past and present.

This Thanksgiving is a good time to reflect on our blessings, especially in this troubled time. One thing to be thankful for is the 2020 harvest. Despite all the difficulties working around the pandemic, the farmers still brought in the crop.

Plaques were put up in Steinauer by the Village of Steinauer in appreciation for all those that donated financially to the park project. The new playground equipment and picnic shelter could not have been completed without all the support!.

As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise in our community, I am deeply troubled as to what the future may bring unless we take action very soon. Pawnee County Memorial Hospital is vital to Pawnee City and the surrounding area; however, the impacts of this pandemic are putting both our healthcare workers and our patients at risk.

Holiday Angel Tree applications open

Pawnee County Holiday Angel Tree Applications may be picked up at City Hall, deadline Dec. 2. The City Hall is at 605 G St. Items will be available for pickup on Dec. 16 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Pawnee Village Unit No. 137.
