There will be new hours at the Pawnee City Public Library starting June 1. They will be open Monday through Friday 9 am. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. The Saturday hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Signup for the summer reading for kids and adults is ongoing.

Watering help needed

We've had very little response to our request for flower watering volunteers, and no one has offered to water next weekend. Remember that we're only watering weekends this year. The City workers are watering Monday-Friday.

PC Fire Department plans fundraisers

Assistant Pawnee City Fire Chief Mike Habegger said they are planning a couple fundraisers this weekend for the new fire station. On Saturday, May 29, there will be a fundraiser at the Blazin Bull from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Pulled pork meal will be served with drink special and free pool.

Flag volunteers needed

The Flag Committee needs volunteers to assist in putting up flags on May 28th at 5 p.m, and in taking them down on May 31st at 4:30 PM. In case of inclement weather on the 28th flags will be put up on the 29th at 7 AM.

Cemetery flags

The flags at the cemetery will be put up Saturday, May 29 at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed. They will be taken down at 6 p.m. Memorial Day.

Laken Duane Wehrbein

Braxten, Owen, Alivia, and Blaire welcome home their brother, Laken Duane, born on March 3 at 7:10 a.m. at Beatrice Community Hospital. Laken weighed 7 lbs 10 oz and was 19 1/4 in. long. Parents are Tyler and Kayleigh Wehrbein of Burchard.

Droge’s Celebrating 55th Wedding Anniversary

The Children and Grandchildren of Mary and Gary Droge, Sr. are hosting a card shower in honor of their 55th Wedding Anniversary. Gary & Mary were married in Pawnee City on May 24th, 1966.
