Vickie Wiers new Assessor

Vickie Wiers is the new Pawnee County Assessor. She replaces Jon Bailey who retired. She was the Office Deputy, a position she has held since 2015. She was named to the post last week at the Pawnee County Commissioners meeting.

Masonic Lodge gives $25,000 to fire station

The Masonic Lodge of Pawnee City will donate $25,000 to the new fire station project. The news was given to the City Council Monday by Mayor Charlie Hatfield, who is a member of the Lodge. The money is for the interior of the fire station.

Evelyn Pettinger PCAL Resident of the Month

Evelyn Pettinger at 102 years old is continuing to make her mark on the Pawnee City community. For many years Evelyn has been spreading smiles and lasting memories in Pawnee City, and she continues to do so while living at the Pawnee City Assisted Living.

Table Rock to host music this summer

On three Saturday nights in Table Rock – July 10, July 17, and July 24 – you will hear music coming from the historic bandstand in the Square. Folks can sit under the shade trees as the sun sets and kick back and listen, courtesy of the Table Rock Community Club.

With summer picnicking, fishing and other outdoor activities, there is a good chance of coming in contact with poison ivy. Everyone knows it has three leaves, but not everyone can readily identify the plant. In fact, most people who get the rash had not seen the plant.
