2010-10 Years Ago The Library Board Foundation opened bids to build the new library building. The project had been estimated to cost $700,000. They received two bids, Goosen Construction, Beatrice, Neb. Bid $783,000 and AHRS Construction Bern, Kan., bid $650,00.

County Courthouse – a story of the architecture

If you ever see my photography on the Republican Facebook page, you know I love taking photos of the Pawnee County Courthouse. It never ceases to amaze me that we have this wonderful, beautiful building sitting in downtown Pawnee City.

We here at Frakes Pasture Farm we raise pasture raised hogs, chickens, meat birds, turkeys, goats and cows. No antibiotics or growth hormones. All farm animals get fresh cut grass or dried grass/ hay also get a ration of cracked corn daily. They also eat what they can get from Mother Earth.

SWAT Team, Sheriff’s office search house

The Pawnee County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol executed a residential search warrant Monday afternoon. Our office received credible reports relating to a felon in possession of firearms in the 1600 block of G Street in Pawnee City.

Dog licenses

According to city ordinance 6-101, any person owning or harboring a dog must license the dog within 30 days. Postcards will be mailed to people known to have unlicensed dogs and they have until Aug. 31st to license their dog at the City Office or a citation will be issued which entails a $50.

Conditions right for disease development

With abundant rainfall in most of the corner of southeast Nebraska the past 2-3 weeks, conditions have been favorable for disease development in corn and soybeans. Both corn and soybeans look excellent in the area, due to the excellent rainfall we have received and good growing conditions.
